Mobile Maintenance Systems Specialist
Position: Mobile Maintenance Systems Specialist
Reporting to: Mining Manager
Work Schedule: 14 Days On / 7 Days Off

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Mobile Maintenance Systems Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the Mining – Mobile Maintenance section are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively involved in the workshop throughout the shift to ensure planned maintenance is carried out in line with schedule and to a high standard.
- Facilitate immediate action in the event of equipment breakdown and ensuring critical components are ordered as required.
- Consult with the Maintenance and Mining team to ensure the planned maintenance is optimised resulting in compliance with servicing schedules along with delivering productivity.
- Effectively manage the execution of planned work orders to reflect the forecast maintenance planned schedule.
- Monitor and analyse equipment output metrics to identify areas of underperformance and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure cost allocation is accurate and work orders are complete to a high standard.
- Ensure maintenance spend conforms within budget requirements.
- Directly involved in formulating budgets, monitoring equipment availability, Inventory control, scheduling planned maintenance and ensuring sufficient people resources are made available to perform the work.
- Actively involved in prioritizing and maximizing machine availability and operator utilization for high speed mining development operations. Conduct repairs and give instructions in order to reduce downtime, delays is foremost.
- Directly involved to ensure comprehend OEM and company machinery and equipment manuals, diagrams, drawings and communicate effectively with product suppliers and other stake holders on a daily basis to ensure a very high standard availability is achieved is critical to this role
- Actively involved in diagnose faults, transfer knowledge onto technicians to ensure faults will be rectified in a time efficient manner is critical.
- Supports the Maintenance Superintendent and Maintenance Foreman in leading the Maintenance team in achieving the objectives of the department.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Diesel Heavy Fitter Trade Certificate
- Subsequent OEM machine training is highly regarded.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 7 years underground experience performing maintenance on a large fleet of heavy duty trackless mobile equipment, including Sandvik twin boom jumbo’s, Sandvik loaders, Sandvik and CAT underground dump trucks, McLean & Normet Spraymecs and other ancillary mobile equipment.
- At least 3 years must have been spent in maintenance management level,
- Must have proven experience working as part of high speed mechanized mining and an expert working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems on mobile machinery.
- Thorough knowledge of underground mining maintenance methods, operations and procedures and proven experience working in a safe working environment.
- Proven experience managing and training a team of maintenance personnel to high standards.
- Good communication, management & planning skills with ability to monitor expenditure in accordance with budgets.
- Computer literate and previous experience using Pronto and navigating spreadsheets are essential.
- Knowledge of mentoring employees from diverse backgrounds
- Exposure to industry best preventative maintenance programs is imperative to ensure machinery and equipment is maintained to high level of availability at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare long term and short term work plans in consultation with maintenance and other departments
- Liaise with internal supply department to continually establish materials and spares leveling strategies.
- Coordinate with supply department to provide scope of work for any external services in line with Barrick – Bulyanhulu policy.
- Establish, monitor and report maintenance planning KPI
- Complete maintenance work order planning by capturing work specifications ,safety notes, required Resources, Preliminary scheduled start, Cost Centre verification and Check material availability
- Conduct the weekly Production and Maintenance scheduling meeting to establish joint ownership
- Submit engineering drawings for any further required revisions or upgrades.
- Maintain, Update and review Maintenance Pronto database system to ensure the master data including equipment register and equipment details are up to date.
- Provides technical direction to employees of shops performing preventative maintenance, and inspects results
- Assist with the preparation of the annual maintenance budget.
- Compile detailed shutdown work packages for shutdowns with a duration of eight (8) hours or more.
- Assist in the creation of Bills of Materials and job task lists.
- Be vigilant of company assets, monitor, report and action through the appropriate procedures, activities resulting in the loss, misuse or misappropriation of company assets.
- Maintain the Engineering technical library and drawing register.
- Mechanical / Electrical Certificate – (FTC, Diploma)
- Valid driving license as an added advantage
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 3 years in maintenance and planning experience.
- Experience in Process Plant and Underground Operations as well as the experience in Shaft operations
- Ability to read and understand Process and Mechanical drawing
- Excellent communication in English and Swahili language
- Knowledge in Computer Software such as Microsoft Word Suite of Products – Word, Project, Excel & Access
- Knowledge in using computerized maintenance management system (i.e. Pronto)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor the execution of the work of pertaining to critical information that must be recorded for future references
- Achieve the departmental and organizational objectives.
- To ensure proper scheduling of planned jobs for carrying out preventive maintenance.
- Verify all completed work orders are closed off for the previous period

- Provide materials, tools, services and equipment through requisitioning, storehouse stock, or rentals (for non-emergency work only).
- Achieve the departmental and organizational objectives.

- Mechanical / Electrical Certificate – (VETA Grade I, FTC, Diploma)
- Minimum of 3 years in maintenance and planning experience.

- Conduct Shortcreting Operations
- Paste pipe installation and switch over
- Paste barricade construction and pouring activities.
- Monitor and control paste pouring and cycle efficiency
- Install Foam blocks in long hole stopes
- Fan installation and Service reclaiming
- Underground Water management and dewatering
- Bumper block construction and installation
- Vent wall drilling and vent door construction and installation
- Charging off and blasting cap to unplugging paste line
- Discuss with supervisor how to improve service and construction efficient

- Coach and mentor trainees on paste pouring logistics and operation

Lamp Room Attendant
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Lamp Room Attendants to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the Mining Department are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.
Reporting to: Mining First Line Leader
Work Schedule: 7 Days Day Shift / 7 Days Night Shift / 7 Days Off
Duration: 1 Year
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that the lamp room is maintained clean and in good condition at all times
- Issuing of cap lamps, rescue packs and gas testing equipment
- Record keeping of issuing and receiving of cap lamps, rescue packs, gas testing equipment
- Reporting of non-compliances and damages caused to equipment
- Required to do shift work
- Conduct weekly, monthly and annual stock taking for cap lamps, rescue packs and gas testing equipment
- Conduct regular inspection for expiring dates and replacement due dates
- Conduct repair for cap lamps and accessories
- Prepare hand over during shift change and when proceeding on leave
- Discuss with supervisor on how to improve service provision
- Identify, notify and/or rectify all unsafe acts, situations and hazards within the workplace.
- Ensure Zero Fatality, Zero LTI and Zero MTI in the Department and that incidents are reported timely.
- Ensure safe work practices, all incidents are reported and investigated according to procedure and on time, and assist with any other accident investigation when required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as you may be required by Mining Department from time to time
- Ordinary secondary education
- Trade test in electrical installation and wiring will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in underground mining environment
- Excellent communication in English ,both writing and verbal
- Basic computer skills
